WOW WHAT A GREAT WEEKEND, Aunt Cindy and I would like to say how much we enjoyed this get together. Thankyou for all attending and for all the great food.
A special thanks for Susan, Harlan, Abbey and Aunt Francis for making it this year. This worked so well setting a date early so everyone could mark their calendars to lessen conflicts that Aunt Cindy and I will again host Rawlings Family Christmas for 2010. Lets all plan on December 18th & 19th , so mark your calendars. Just by chance that any of you all have a conflict on that date allready, please let me know. I know all this advance notice and planning is unusal but wait, another bit of info, the menu. We Had a GREAT Time!

Thanks to John and Cindy for letting us all come over again this year for Rawlings' Family Christmas 09'! The ham and beans were delicious and the pies and candy were all wonderful! Even though it can be tough to schedule a time for everyone to get together we are always glad to see the Rawlings family come from all over Kansas (and Oklahoma) for two days and enjoy each other's company. Gerry called and asked that I post for her since she doesn't do blogs. They will be staying at the Best Western Inn since Mike and her both have issues with stairs at this time. The boys will be staying there with them also. She will bring chocolate covered cherries (YAY!) and mixed nuts (Maybe that's the boys?) hehe. She said everyone can bring their suits and swim if they want to.

Hello all,
Mark was saying something about wanting to cook for you all this year also. He was thinking Lasauge. Is this okay with some of you or would you rather something else? Please let us know either on here or give us a shout on the phone. I will be making something to bring also but I haven't decided. I haven't ever made a pie before but I could probably take a whack at it. Maybe I should stick with something I know though. When I decide I will let you all know for sure. Also Mark and I are still unsure if the kids will be able to be there or not but if they are we will be looking for a place to stay also if the weather isn't the greatest we would like to stay. However we can always just take a piece of floor if need be. Can't wait to see everyone.

Menu update for family x-mas. In keeping with the past something good and simple that people can eat whenever. Uncle John plans to cook Nana and Papaw's famous Ham and Beans this year. Auntie "M" is in charge of the fudge. Looking for some pie makers. Aunt Cindy is planning a Sunday breakfast casarole and her awesome bisquits and sausage gravey. Like Aunt Barbara said, plan on staying and making Mr. Jackson's first x-mas a blast. Along with Aunt Barbara, we also have room at the Inn, the flag room spoken for by Aunt Cindy's mom Norma joining us this year, but we have the Murpy bed, couch bed, basement bed, and three couchs are available. I just want to let you all know, I have some room at the INN for Christmas. I have two empty bedrooms available with double beds and extra couch space too. First come first serve! I am so saddened by this terrible shooting. Our men and women accept the dangers of protecting us and this great country, never realizing that it is so dangerous right here in their own home base. While I was listening to this unfold, I heard they were calling police and swat, and the thought that went through my head was 'this is a huge base with many well trained soldiers, why can't they get a sniper to take the shooter out, why do they need to wait for outside sources.' Then I find out the shooter is military, not some outsider, but one of their own that they know and work with and trusted.
I wonder, when these men and women deploy, how will they trust the soldier next to them after this?

Jackson Scott Daugherty has arrived! Mother and Son are doing fine. Dad is doing well also. Young Mr. Daugherty weighed in at 7lbs. 14 oz., is 20 inches tall, has brown hair and hazel eyes. Jackson timed his appearance at 7:20 pm today, September 14, 2009. Congrats to the new little family. Many happy playful years to come. Everyone enjoy! Papa John will consult the master list and declaring bragging rights later on. What a wonderful day!

Thankyou for the b-day post, calls, etc. As auntie "m" pointed out I must be slowing down, no doubt due to age. Great News!

Well, with the semester wrapping up we are finally getting everything done at school. I am really excited to be finishing up soon and to be able to have an actual career! I have started looking for jobs, although that could be awhile since Wichita is saturated with hygienists. We just learned today that I passed my National Board Exam that I took back in March!!! Now I just have to work to get through by clinical board in a week or so. I also completed the last of my clinical requirements today in class, so now I feel like I am on top of the world! Just one more week left in school and then I am off to bigger and better things. I can't wait to see what happens next.

The Chisholm Suites - place we all stayed last time - 580-255-0551 $80.00 + tax per night.
The Days Inn - stayed there once long time ago DO NOT STAY THERE!
Hearthstone Inn Bed and Breakfast - 580-736-0100 $74.00 to 119.00 +tax per night. Depends on how fancy a room you want there. Never been there don't have any personal experience to pass on.

Easter Sunday

It's early morning and it is barely a drizzle, maybe more appropriately a mist in the air. I hear birds calling soft, low and sweet to each other. Perfect morning for hot chocolate and a book! Alas, I must work. Have a guy I am doing a project for and I put it off to do wedding stuff and now must get down to business. I am fortunate that he was very patient during that time. I do love early mornings, especially ones like today. It is so relaxing to hear the birds. Of course, any hint of moisture that may turn into actual rain and I have two dogs that turn into little babies! They both want in and if it thunders they both want on my lap! Hopefully today will not include thunder, just a calm relaxing drizzle. It is nice to take this pause and enjoy nature and all God has given to me and mine. Have a wonderful Easter everyone! I know I will. M:)

Big Day

Today was my dental hygiene written board exam. I had 200 questions in the morning and 150 in the afternoon. I think I did good in the morning but the afternoon was all patient case studies so it proved to be a little more difficult. By the end of the day my neck hurt and I feel unsure about my score. I think that I passed. We will find out in May. I came home to find that Grant had cleaned the house and washed the dishes for me so that I could relax tonight. I have the best husband! One test down, 2 to go! Shaina

Aunt Frances

Aunt Frances fell about 3 am on Monday. Called Susan for help about 7 am. Got her to the hospital and she has compression fractures of the spine (old ones) at T11 & T12, (new ones) at L1 & L2. She did not break anything else thank goodness. She will be in hospital for awhile then moving to a rehab place so they can get her healed up before heading back home. Not sure of the timetable for any of the rehab yet. Will update more when Susan updates. She is planning on establishing a page like she did for Michael to keep everyone updated. Will post that link as soon as she lets someone know what it is.

Well, here are some pics! Everything looks good so far. Heartbeat was 158 and it was moving around alot! Dr. thinks I am about a week farther along than I do. According to my calcuations I will be 11 weeks friday, but they say I am about 12 already. Who knows! Maybe its just growing faster. We are super excited and this makes it seem so much more real.

Busy, Busy

I dropped by to give Sarah her birthday gift and wish her a happy birthday, but when I stopped at the garage to get Matthew he told me she was busy working at the computer and it would be better not to interrupt her. I understand about busy! So I will just have to wish her a Happy Birthday and give her the gift when I can find her not quite so busy. It's too bad she had to work so hard on her birthday.

Birthday Boy!

Happy Birthday Garrett! Six whole years old today! What fun. I went over last night to wish my guy a happy birthday because I knew I wouldn't be able to see him today and didn't want to wait to give him his gifts. He was having a sleep-over with some friends and when I arrived he was happy to announce to me that he was going to be six tomorrow! I think he liked the musical card I gave him better than any of the gifts, he was running around opening it so it would play and then dancing to the music! I had a great time and he was all smiles.

Big News!

Well most of you know by now, I think, but for anyone who I haven't seen yet to tell the news, Chris and I are expecting a baby in September! I'm about 8 weeks now, still kinda early, but we are excited and nervous and everything that goes with it. I will be due around the 26th of September. I had my first apt. a few weeks ago, but they didn't do much but ask me lots of questions about our health histories and take lots of blood and give me a due date. My next apt. is March 4th so I'll let you all know any new info I get. Maybe I'll even have a picture!

Whew! Glad that's done!

JLo, me, Andrea (a friends of Shaina's from School), and Bert (a guy from Grant's work) all pitched in and helped Shaina & Grant move. They were supposed to move Sunday, but got the keys earlier so we started Saturday afternoon and finished up on Sunday. Poor Grant had to work Saturday night so he was really really tired and only had about three hours sleep! We missed out on rain and boy am I glad about that. They have a nice place and now Tank has a yard to play in.

Moving Yet Again!

Well, Grant and I are moving yet another time. We are moving to a rental house this time, so that we will have a yard for Tank. It is a great place only 5 minutes from downtown in a good neighborhood. It's a small 2 bdrm 1 bath house with a basement and a decent sized backyard. We will start moving on Sunday and I can't wait until it is over. For all of you who update your address books and need to know the new address it is 115 S. St Clair Wichita 67213. As much of a hassle it is for you to update your books it is a bigger pain for me to change it for all the bills and every other place that mails us stuff (my least favorite part of moving). My hope is to have everything unpacked and cleaned up at Somerset by Wednesday of this next week. I can't wait to get settled in and everything back to normal. I just hope that the weather cooperates with us on Sunday, although I am not sure it will. Well, that is it for now. Shaina

PUPPY FEVER

These guys are so cute! I found them on www.puppyfind.com I've been having puppy fever really bad lately. I know it may not be the smartest choice right now, but they are so cute and lovable and I really need some companionship right now. One is named Sarge and one is Li'l Jack. They are located at different breeders in SW MO... close to Sherry and Chris! We might go visit one day soon! Yes, I remember how big a brat Lucky was.... haha. But she turned out to be a pretty cool dog and a great friend to me the past 8 years. I was thinking just today how she used to steal John's crossword pencils off the table. I used to get a big kick out of that but it really made him mad! He would be working on one, get up to go do something else for a while, then come back and the pencil would be gone! Lucky was sneaky that way. Nobody could catch her in the act but you knew who did the deed!

The knee is doing better. I can walk, kinda sorta. Just don't ask me to run any races any time soon!

Mission Accomplished!

Our bride has the 'perfect dress'. We found it at our first stop at Kari's in McPherson! They all arrived at my house at 8:30 for cinnamon rolls and hot chocolate, then off to Mac. We were there a few minutes before the doors opened and when they unlocked we stormed the place! Got Hannah to help us, she was fantastic. Since we were first in the door we got the BIG room with several chairs, a wall mirror that was at least six foot tall by about ten foot across with another mirror on the opposite wall. We brought in about twenty dresses and then the fun began. Eliora had them off and on and off and on and in piles of favorites, maybes, noways. Narrowed it down to about five and retried those five on. Ended up with a stunning dress but I can't give any of the detail of it or a picture cause you never know, the groom might stumble onto it and that just can't happen. So, two hours later we leave, everyone happy, except maybe poor Hannah who had to put away all those rejects! Went to lunch at a great little Deli recommended by the girls at Kari's and then we came back to Hutch. Eliora and her brides maids are now off shopping for dresses for those girls. I am taking a nap!

Wedding Dress Day

Tomorrow is wedding dress shopping day! I am loading up black beauty with a gaggle of girls to traverse the state in search of the perfect wedding dress for Eliora! It will be a blast, did this with Shaina and we had sooo much fun! (Except for poor Megan who was still a bit incapacitated from the night before.) Everyone is meeting at my house and then heading to Mac to Kari's, this is where Shaina found her perfect dress so hopefully we will have similar luck for Eliora. We will head to Wichita from Mac and that will be good cause this weekend is also the BIG bridal fair in Wichita. Just wish it weren't so cold.
